Valerie Bischoff is an award-winning writer/director from Reno, Nevada whose work has reached millions through PBS, MTV, NBC, and major digital platforms. Her documentary content has premiered at the United Nations and the White House, while her narrative screenplays have earned recognition from the Academy Nicholl Fellowship and top industry labs.
Equally skilled in narrative and documentary filmmaking, Valerie brings a unique hybrid approach to visual storytelling—applying cinematic techniques and screenwriting principles to create authentic, character-driven narratives that emotionally resonate. Her work for major brands and organizations including Amazon Prime Video, Salesforce, Billboard, and the NoVo Foundation demonstrates her versatility across commercial, branded, and social impact content.
Her projects have been supported by the US Fulbright Program, Women In Film, the Princess Grace Foundation, and the International Screenwriters' Association (which named her one of their "Top 25 Screenwriters to Watch"). Valerie's films have screened at dozens of festivals including Palm Springs ShortFest and the Athens Film Festival, and her work has been acquired by the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian.
Valerie holds an M.F.A. in Film Directing from Columbia University and a B.A. in Film from UC Santa Cruz.
